White lies are still lies nevertheless
Written by Raul M. Gonzalez / Reflections from the Mirror
During a forum among the “presidentiables” at the UST Medicine Auditorium, Sen. Noynoy Aquino proudly announced he has never lied in all his life. I wonder if the audience, mostly student leaders who filled the UST auditorium, believed Noynoy’s boast. Had I been there and allowed to ask questions, I certainly would have disproved that boast because I can state here and now that Noynoy Aquino lied to this writer on the subject of a bill seeking to split the lone congressional district of Iloilo City into two. Senator Aquino told this writer during the four meetings that we had on the subject, three times in my office at the Department of Justice while I was still secretary of justice, and once at the Senate lounge, of his objections to the bill.
However, Senator Aquino promised and assured me that he would report the bill for committee deliberation on April 3, 2009, like all the other bills of similar purpose. He also informed me that if we get committee approval, similar to what happened to the Camarines Sur bill, he would allow the bill to go to plenary although he would register his opposition, and let matters take their course. The problem is—and this is where Senator Aquino lied—April 3 came and went but the bill was never reported for committee deliberation by the senator, contrary to his personal assurances. And because the bill was never reported, it never came up for deliberation. The victims here are the people of Iloilo City.
Is this not lying on the part of Sen. Noynoy Aquino when he assured me that the bill would be reported and heard in the committee with a specific date but he never convened the committee to deliberate on our bill? In my understanding of a lie, white, yellow or whatever color, his assurance to me that the bill would be set for committee hearing on April 3, was a big lie. Therefore, I state that Sen. Noynoy Aquino lied to me on those occasions I mentioned and to the UST audience during that forum.
"I am determined to continue the fight started by my father and my mother to see
that democracy takes root and is strengthened in our country. This cannot happen
in a government that serves the interest of the powerful few. We must strengthen
the institutions of government so that they truly serve the interests of our people."

With all due respect Sec. Gonzales, that is not lying. Overpromising perhaps but not lying. This is lying: GMA: “I will not run as president in 2004″.

We were not there so who knows if Raul Gonzalez is telling the truth.I find him to be a person who can fabricate lie to make somebody look bad. How many times did he defended the lies of the Palace occupants. It’s his words against Noynoy. To me he is not credible.

Fine if you do not believe Gonzales, but surely you do not believe Noynoy’s claim? “I have an inability to lie.” What a joke.

My favorite TV character said thus: Everybody lies. The only variable is about what. Between lying on the time you went home or lying about running again for the presidency…ay no contest!

Raul Gonzales started his political career in Zambales, but the people of Zambales are intelligent enough to see his true character. Sa kankungan siya pinulot.
That’s how he gets to Iloilo.
Then, he tried to team up with Gerry Espina. THey had a radio program aired over Eagle Broadcasting Company, and surprises of surprises, he became a spokesman of the Marcos Loyalists in spite of having served as Ombudsman under the Cory Administration tasked to run after the Marcoses’ graft and corruption cases.
It was during his stint with the DOJ that noted drug dealers run rings with the law and known criminals were given parole ( notably were those involved with the Aquino Assasination, Teehangkee and Jalosjos ).
If Noynoy lied to him three times. Kulang pa yun. It would be most honorable to lie to a devil a thousand times. In the first place, it won’t be a sin to LIE to a devil. We can even consider it a noble act.

While I can’t really say that Raul Gonzalez is a ‘man of integrity’, I don’t also believe that Noynoy has never lied in his life. That would be a lie.

“Yesterday in Davao City, nag papulong si Villar sa isang public market, nagpapirma ng certificate na mag gagarantiya ng bahay at lupa sa bawat signatoree – pero na-ningil naman ng sampung piso as processing fee.
Now I know a lot of our brothers and sisters in Davao City had readily fall for such …thing lalo na kapag libreng pabahay ang usapan … but does Villar had to resort to such act to garner support … ang siste baka pagkatapos ng eleksiyon matalo man o hindi ay hindi niya maibigay ang pangako niya sa mga pobreng mamayan – kinikilan pa niya ng sampung piso … tinanga na pinagbayad pa …”

Sec. Raul Gonzales should be reminded what Noynoy said, he said he lied to those whom he knew are just fooling around with him. And he lied to this kind of people only to make easy way out from them. Para lang makalayo at sayang lang oras niya sa mga manlolokong yun.
Oh, well, since Secretary Gonzales is shouting to high heavens that Noynoy lied to him not once but thrice would just clearly confirm something about Sec. Raul Gonzales. BOLERO daw po kasi kayo, sir.
