NoyPI Ako!: Noynoy for President Initiative Aktibong Komunidad Online!

When writers lack information and analysis

Below is William Esposo’s reply to Patricia Evangelista’s column Jesus in Yellow.

This is a classic case of writing with lack of information and analysis. It did not register with this writer that:

1. The Cojuangcos had no control of the government men who were involved in the shooting. Even Peping Cojuangco, the most political of the clan, has never been associated with violence and many times they have been the victims of it.

2. This writer did not examine the agenda of the Reds against Cory whom they hated with a passion because she pre-empted the stage of stalemate that they would have achieved if Marcos held power two more years. That was the main reason why Ronald Reagan, who personally favored Marcos, agreed that Marcos must be replaced by Cory.

Not only that, the Reds disintegrated because of the democratic space Cory created when she became president. That is why the Reds had their internal squabble which resulted in their killing fields. Their biggest political fronts were shattered by Jimmy Ferrer’s Local Government anti-insurgency campaign, a non-violent effort which restored people’s trust in the new Cory government.

3. This writer did not examine what the Arroyo government was doing at the time. They were killing above ground Reds which became the reason why the UN sent an investigator here. Hacienda Luisita was a Red laboratory for promoting class conflict and so the administration found it most convenient to attack the Red operatives there.

This writer also did not bother to check how the Arroyo government felt about Cory. They have been viciously attacking her. This attack thus served two objectives of the regime.

4. This writer also did not bother to check why the Reds are very anti-Noynoy. This is a time when the political equation is almost similar to the 1986 ferment. The last thing the Reds want is another popular president who can restore national unity and initiate reform. Noynoy will make the Reds irrelevant again.

  • @leo, thanks, you’re still fast…go visit perry’s blog, great learning stuff over there.

  • Ang puna ko lang talaga sa article ni Patricia is that may mga metaphoric gestures siya which intend to deceive. Like yung grass daw yellow. Why does she have to mention that? Eh kaso, paano magkaka-grass sun sa gate samantalang laging dinadaanan ng trucks yun. Bakit hindi yung kulay ng gate, mas visible naman yun. It also borders on being blasphemous because of her allusion to “jesus”. May apelyido naman pero di binanggit.

  • @Hustisya magulo lang talaga magsulat si Patricia. plain and simple.

  • Patricia is not a Noynoy supporter plain and simple.

  • Post ko lang din ang response ng isang reader sa Barrio Siete:

    1. That’s a cop-out. HLI is already full of government men. You can’t control the shooting – but you can control the presence, as well as the condition. Removing the presence will mitigate the shooting – did you or did you not remove the presence?

    2. That is a red herring and is irrelevant to the facts of the case. HLI was responsible and accountable for the shooting. HLI reneged on its agreement to distribute land.

Moreover, the Reds are a symptomatic of the bigger systemic defect – an oligarch dominated economy. While the Red bogeyman is being raised, the oligarchs are tightening their noose around the economy. The oblivious masses are being fried in their own lard by the oligarchs.

    3. The presence of extreme disparity makes ripe picking for class conflict. Address the disparity and you address the Red. Has HLI addressed the disparity? NO, HLI has made it worse.

    4. Feelings about the Arroyo government are irrelevant to HLI’s responsibility for the death of unarmed farmers – the very people Noynoy claims to be standing for – where was he when he was needed most by the poor ? Together with his family’s vested interests – conflict of interest!

    5. On the contrary, Cory did not restore national unity – she restored the oligarch’s pre-1970s domination of the economy. Initiating land reform would have been something, but Cory chose to distribute a piece of paper, instead of land. If you want a repeat of the incompetence and continued oligarch domination – by all means choose another Aquino.

    The more you know…

  • this was very enlightening. merong nabuo sa isip ko with what i am noticing sa media and those protagonists sa blog nang barrio hehe

  • Hi Reyna elena, feel free to write your own comments here. Thank you for visiting the Noypi website.

  • @Renyz, I was enjoying your discussion with the undecided kuno activists in the barrio blog. I was tempted to makigulo pero nilalampaso mo na sila lahat kawawa naman sila na halata namang villar-leaning kung pati ako makipukpok pa sa ulo nila. Bluepanjeet is a worthy ally.

  • @Cheka Chuva, please allow me to answer your quiz;

    1. That’s a cop-out. HLI is already full of government men. You can’t control the shooting – but you can control the presence, as well as the condition. Removing the presence will mitigate the shooting – did you or did you not remove the presence?

    - BAD PEOPLE KILLS EVEN INSIDE A CHURCH OR EVEN INSIDE A HOLY MAN’S HOUSE.

    2. That is a red herring and is irrelevant to the facts of the case. HLI was responsible and accountable for the shooting. HLI reneged on its agreement to distribute land.

EVEN IF HLI BREAKS ALL ITS COMMITMENTS, ONLY THOSE WITH GUNS CAN BE CHARGE OF MURDER. THAT’S COMMON SENSE.

Moreover, the Reds are a symptomatic of the bigger systemic defect – an oligarch dominated economy. While the Red bogeyman is being raised, the oligarchs are tightening their noose around the economy. The oblivious masses are being fried in their own lard by the oligarchs.

    - THE REALITY IS, THE OLIGARCHS CONTROL EVERYTHING AND THAT INCLUDES THE REDS. WHERE DO YOU THINK THE FUNDS OF THE REDS COME FROM?

    3. The presence of extreme disparity makes ripe picking for class conflict. Address the disparity and you address the Red. Has HLI addressed the disparity? NO, HLI has made it worse.

    - ILLOGICAL. HLI IS ONLY 6,000 PLUS HECTARES AND IS NOTHING BUT A SMALL DOT IN THE MAP OF THE PHILIPPINES. HENCE EVEN IF YOU DISTRIBUTE HLI TO THE FARMERS IT CAN HARDLY CURE CLASS CONFLICT IN THE PHILIPPINES.

    4. Feelings about the Arroyo government are irrelevant to HLI’s responsibility for the death of unarmed farmers – the very people Noynoy claims to be standing for – where was he when he was needed most by the poor? Together with his family’s vested interests – conflict of interest!

BUT DON’T YOU THINK THAT GMA, BEING THE COMMANDER IN CHIEF OF THE SAME ARMED FORCES OF THE PHILIPINES WHO SHOT THE UNARMED FARMERS SHOULD BE ASKED TO EXPLAIN ALSO? WHERE WAS NOYNOY THEN? GOOD HE WAS NO NEARER, BAKA NAPAGBINTANGAN PA SIYA NG MGA PULITIKONG LASING.

THE PICTURE OF NATIONAL UNITY WE ALREADY SAW DURING THE SICKNESS AND EVENTUAL DEMISE OF CORY. SHE DISTRIBUTED LAND MORE THAN ANY PRESIDENT. CORY OPENED THE GATE FOR OTHER INVESTORS WITH HER POLICY OF FREE ENTERPRISE. THE DEMOCRATIC SPACE SHE CREATED MADE OUR COUNTRY CONDUCIVE TO INVESTMENT.

WILL I VOTE FOR ANOTHER AQUINO? WELL OF COURSE, YES!

The more you know… ( the more you will vote for Noynoy )

  • @Chuva chu chu. The paper distributed by Cory through the DAR is not a ordinary paper as you would want to imply. It was a certificate of ownership in the form of share of stock. It was Cory who prescribed SDO, it was the LAW (CARL of 1988) or RA 6657. Sugarcane plantation is not like rice field that can be physically distributed without diminishing its productive capacity and can be handled by a single farmer. Granting that HLI will be parcelled into One hectare per beneficiaries (6,000 hectares to 6,000 workers), do you think that the individual farmer awarded with one hectares of sugarcane farm afford to buy tractor, hauling truck and other implements in order to maintain the level of sugarcane production the HLI is producing presently?

The stock distribution option is one provision of CARL of 1988 to reform ownership of the vast commercial farm while maintaining the economies-of-scale. That was how the legislators thought when they crafted and enacted the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Law of 1988. or R. A. 6657?

Kaya, Chuva Cheka, your oligarch scare simply doesn’t work in a free world.
