The Noynoy Poem
THE NOYNOY POEM
(based 100% on actual quotes of Noynoy)
My father died to bring democracy back.
It was the highest possible price to pay.
It is now up to us to make the democracy work.
Never again should any person’s life be sacrificed,
In the name of his beliefs.
My father said, “Pity the one who succeeds Marcos
Because of the enormity of the problems he would inherit.”
Little did he know that Marcos’ successor would be Cory.
My mother could have chosen to remain in the background.
But to do so would have made her a traitor to her beliefs.
Both my parents advocated simplicity and humility.
I may be aware of my strengths,
But I am doubly aware of my weaknesses.
Alone, I may make a small difference,
But together, we can achieve significant change.
We have to make our voices heard.
It is time to give the power back to the people.
What our fate will be tomorrow,
Depends on how we choose to act today.
Truly, as Ninoy said, “the ball is now in our hands.”

"I am determined to continue the fight started by my father and my mother to see
that democracy takes root and is strengthened in our country. This cannot happen
in a government that serves the interest of the powerful few. We must strengthen
the institutions of government so that they truly serve the interests of our people."
