@Amy, I appreciate your being candid in stating your preference in Gordon. Me too, was spending sometime in assessing each of the candidates' background and personal character. There was even a time that I together with some close associates and former colleagues in street struggles during the first quarter storm of the early seventies have formed a cause oriented group named Advocates of Genuine Alternative Politics.

Cynicism, pessimism and finally fatalistic outlook have gripped majority of our people because for a long time our political leaders have failed to address the people's long yearned transformational change, they failed to inspire and motivate people to give their share for the good of many. The people are now sick and tired of the rotten system of the politics of convenience and patronage where politicians are moved by their insatiable greed more than their desire to bring this nation back to its glory years.

Gordon has proven something is his little turf in Olongapo and Subic, but at what cost? Social discrimination, alienation of some sectors who might have dis-agreed with him, further degrading our value system by his failure if not tolerance of the proliferation of prostitution, smuggling, drug trading, nepotism, political dynasty, despotism all in the name of economic development.

Mankind's history is rich with records of reluctant leaders who in the end had proven to have delivered their constituents to greatness. Moses, Samson, David and even Jesus Christ Himself withdrew to the hills when He sensed that the Jews were out to make him King over them. All of them have one common denominator, They did not have LUST for power.

Noynoy, the reluctant candidate, that in spite of having been born of wealthy clan, of an illustrious parents continued to live in simplicity and humility until such time the people's clamor for him to lead over them became insurmountable that he gave in to their challenge. It is His UNIQUE character that earned him the TRUST and CONFIDENCE of the majority of the Filipinos who long been yearning for good governance. It is this same TRUST and CONFIDENCE that the local and foreign investors is bestowing in Noynoy, the same TRUST and CONFIDENCE that the international community that made me think that only Noynoy Aquino is capable to make the following things happen:

1. Restore the people's TRUST and FAITH in their government.
2. Regain the lost PRIDE and SENSE OF BELONGINGNESS of being a Filipino.
3. Earn the TRUST and CONFIDENCE of the International Community thus inviting more investments to come.

At the end of the day, the success and failure of the state depends upon the degree of support and cooperation of the citizenry.

Kay Gordon din ako. :-)

We need a competent leader with a vision. Gordon has vision. If we want progress, we should vote for someone who has a vision and a mission to fulfill.

Both are campaigning against corruption but let's face it, corruption will always be there. Kahit sino pang Presidente ang umupo, it will always be there. No matter how corrupt or non-corrupt (as each of them claims) the next President will be, his subordinates can always stay corrupt. He may vow not to tolerate this existing culture of corruption but you can never completely wipe this out. Not really saying that it's hopeless to eradicate corruption, just being realistic.

You say vote the least evil, but a President needs to do a lot more than just being politically moral. Philippines terribly needs a leader who will help us get back on track.

To treat Noynoy fairly, we should stop considering him as someone who's always in the shadow his parents and the Aquino family heroic "reputation". We should consider him as Noynoy, the Senator, a separate entity, and from there, evaluate what he has done so far for the benefit of the country. Let's set aside emotions, let's think and carefully consider what he has contributed so far, as well as the other candidates na rin. And then judge kung ano ba ang tingin mong magagawa niya based on his record.

This is just my opinion though. I just wanted to share why I want Gordon to be the next President, and how I came up with that decision. We're all entitled to our own opinions and decisions on whoever it is that we want to vote. However, I still just would like to take this opportunity to encourage you guys to carefully examine your reasons on why you'll be voting the candidate you will be voting.

I encourage everyone to think and decide carefully and intellectually. Let's not be easily swayed by emotions or even surveys. Your single vote can make a difference. Exercise your right to vote with integrity and high regards. Each of us can make a difference, only if we want to. :-)

Let's go Philippines!

@sherwin, I'd like to throw it back to you sa sinabi mong ingat sa pagpoint ng fingers by saying that Noynoy had not passed a single law all you need to do is just to tick that little buttons of your keyboard and find it our for yourself . Noynoy had an approved 2 laws while Gordon had 5 .

The cup thing is true pare even in the halo-halo corners in Malls and even in the game galleries ,Gordon still belong to others...I knew it because it was in the news. Nakangiti nga ako pare when you made mention about the Cup..and you are talking as if Gordon has his own cup also which in reality , share lang sila ni Madrigal, perlas at delos reyes ....buti pa si Eddie meron e...he..he..

You can read the history of Olongapo so you will find it for yourself .

@kanoypi and others including Sherwin: DAR Regional Office No VII conducted mock presidential poll among its employees, the results: AQUINO - 53.5%; GIBO - 22.5%; VILLAR - 8.4% GORDON - 4.2%; ESTRADA - 2.8%; VILLANUEVA - 2.8%; PERLAS - 1.4% other presidentiables got ZERO. This is the sentiment of 100% Professionals.

@ Sherwin: The people who voted here are working with and for the poor people in the agrarian sector, don't you think they can't influence most of the 3 million Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries plus their spouses and mature children? Saan mo isisituate si Gotrdon dito?

Stop dreaming Sherwin, yours is a hopeless case.

@Gian.. <i>"You will say we need basic honesty, but dont you think we also need basic competence, basic ability, basic drive and passion to finally move this country"</i>

You hit the nail right on the head pare. Definitely, we need basic competence, drive and passion to lead the country. That is why we need a person like Dick Gordon. :)

Noynoy, in his 12 years as a legislator, has not passed
a single law.. nasaan ang competence nun?

@Dennis..ingat sa pag-point ng fingers pare. take note, 3 naka-point back sa 'yo. :)

Di mo ba alam na mas matagal pa at mas malawak ang sakop ng mga Aquino sa Tarlac? Their family had a president, a vice president, four senators, congressmen, governors, lahat ng pwesto sa Tarlac, pero how is Tarlac? :) Naisip mo ba ito pare ko?

By the way, the Gordons did not create Olongapo, they transformed it!
