LP to ask Comelec to reprint ballots minus Acosta’s name
by Johanna Camille Sisante – GMANews.TV
The LP had earlier filed a disqualification case against Acosta, saying the latter is not the official KBL bet and that he was only running to dislodge LP standard bearer Senator Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III from his original position as first on the alphabetically-arranged list of candidates on the ballots.
Comelec records revealed Tuesday that Acosta is not even a registered voter in the area where he claims to be one, making him ineligible to run for public office.
Not satisfied with Vetellano Acosta’s disqualification from the presidential race, the Liberal Party will ask the Commission on Elections (Comelec) next week to reprint the 9 million ballots already printed so far, and this time ensure that Acosta’s name is excluded.
“Since according to the NPO (National Printing Office) only 9 million ballots have so far been printed, the LP will formally petition the Comelec to remove Acosta’s name in the ballots still to be printed and to reprint the 9 million ballots without Acosta’s name,” Abad said in an earlier text message Thursday night.
"I am determined to continue the fight started by my father and my mother to see
that democracy takes root and is strengthened in our country. This cannot happen
in a government that serves the interest of the powerful few. We must strengthen
the institutions of government so that they truly serve the interests of our people."

It was obviously a ploy to disqualify Acosta after the printing to give some semblance of Comelec’s impartiality but it was obvious that the harm has been done…. the ACOSTA name will precede AQUINO ..and the GMA operatives succeded in doing just that !!! Guys watch out for COMELEC 2nd Division !!!

I can not understand the COMELEC RULING. Illagay pa rin daw si Acosta kahit dun sa future printing. But why ? Para daw may uniformity. Uniformity ng pagkakamali. Do MISTAKES such as this has to be UNIFORN everywhere. Bakit hindi itama sa future printing ?

Kung hindi itama ng COMOLEC ang kanilang sinadyang pagkakamali, that will be ground for Impeachment, somebody must file a complaint.

Hi Engr Jojo and Hustisya, am speechless about all of these so called COMELEC RULES!!!
All I can say to Commissioner Larrazabal’s reluctance to remove Acosta’s name from the ballots was puzzling. When Chairman Jose Mello disqualified Acosta. He should have ordered the instant removal of Acosta from the ballot that was less than a week, if am not mistaken.
A really big Question mark??? WHY
