Hacienda Luisita’s Fair Market Value is P150
By Jess Diaz (The Philippine Star)
There is nothing illegal in the construction of an interchange along the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) leading to the Cojuangcos’ Hacienda Luisita in Concepcion, Tarlac, Quezon Rep. Danilo Suarez said yesterday.
“I don’t think there was any violation of law in this case,” Suarez, chairman of the House oversight committee, told a hearing of his panel on delays in the completion of SCTEX.
Remulla claimed that the government paid Luisita owners P100 per square meter of the 83.9 hectares it acquired from them in ROW when the Bureau of Internal Revenue’s zonal values pegged the price at only P6 to P8 per square meter.
Suarez’s committee tried to verify Remulla’s accusation but found out that the amount the state paid for ROW was even lower than the Luisita land’s fair market value.
Regina Lapuz of the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) told the committee that the agency had asked an independent appraiser to assess the property, which was valued at P150 per square meter.
“The BCDA board set a maximum price of P120, but Luisita was paid only P100 per square meter,” she said.
"I am determined to continue the fight started by my father and my mother to see
that democracy takes root and is strengthened in our country. This cannot happen
in a government that serves the interest of the powerful few. We must strengthen
the institutions of government so that they truly serve the interests of our people."

I am a real estate broker and when Remulla said that the Hacienda Luisita Lot should cost only 6-8 pesos per Sq. Meter, I knew right away that he’s lying and he is lying to his teeth. The only property I came across that is priced anywhere near that price is an isolated 300-hectare property in Morong, Bataan. P10 per Sq. Meter and still with no title as it was covered only by Tax Declaration. And that was 10-12 years ago and that property has irregular terrain and passable only through a narrow mountain trail. Malayo naman dun sa Hacienda Luisita na nakabungad sa highway. I know some of the properties in that area is even priced 10 times more than the price it was said to have been bought by the government.

Hi Hustisya, am pretty sure these congressmen who are in the front runner of accusing Noynoy is thinking twice now, because if they will be caught making-up wrong public informations, they might be the one to be sue by the Group of companies of the Luisita.

The value price per sq.meter of HL land is P150.maximum P120,but Luisita owner sold it for P100.Respect for the owner, they can ask for higher price, but they are fair and not decisive businessman like Villar. What will happened when that was Villars land? What do you think Mr. Remulla the asking of your friend Manny Villar?

@ewe korek, so that best that we supporters can do is to defend Noynoy na lang if ever somebody questions him regarding this, and let’s keep quiet na lang on other candidates. Bumabalik kasi ang karma.
@Awie I don’t think the congressmen are afraid, kasi pag kinasuhan sila, meron silang backer. Kaya wala sila care kahit makasuhan sila. At sa lagay ng jstice system sa atin, matagal pa lalabas ang hatol. so why worry now?

Am i reading it correctly? Rep. Suarez thinks there is nothing unusual with the transaction? Paki-check niyo naman baka nilalagnat lang si Cong. Suarez hehehe. I was almost sure he would say otherwise being a GMA lapdog.
As for Remulla, seriously, can anyone trust this guy? Mukha pa lang, mandurugas na…
