Gordon wants attention so ratings will rise—Aquino camp
Inquirer.net
MANILA, Philippines – The camp of Senator Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III lashed back at Senator Richard Gordon, saying he is so desperate to seek attention by riding on Aquino’s popularity.
“He [Gordon] just wants attention so his ratings will rise as well,” Aquino’s spokesman, Edwin Lacierga, said over the phone.
“Unfortunately, he doesn’t register well in Facebook. Because the fact is we are number one in Facebook, consistent with the fact that we are also number one in the surveys,” Lacierga said.
The spokesman was also not surprised by Gordon’s statement that Aquino and his family have had numerous opportunities to make the nation great but failed to deliver, that Gordon was a known ally of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and the late strongman Ferdinand Marcos.
“Obviously, Gordon will say that. He will not appreciate the efforts of former president [Corazon] Aquino because he is a Marcos and GMA [Arroyo’s initials] ally,” Lacierga said.
“But he seems to forget that it was Aquino, who was able to topple the corrupt dictatorial regime of Marcos. She gave way and did not abuse her power,” he said.
The spokesman pointed out, however, that the issue at hand was the people’s need for a leader, who is clean and will fight against corruption.
“The issue here is corruption. We need a leader who is clean and who will fight against corruption. And that’s the main focus of the campaign of Senator Aquino right now,” he said.
“We pray that Senator Gordon will be enlightened in this manner,” Lacierga added.
"I am determined to continue the fight started by my father and my mother to see
that democracy takes root and is strengthened in our country. This cannot happen
in a government that serves the interest of the powerful few. We must strengthen
the institutions of government so that they truly serve the interests of our people."

Sen. Gordon is getting more and more insecure by the day. If he really is proud and boasts of his track record, then there is no need for him to put our candidate down. Ingat lang Sen. Noy, baka ikaw naman ang hamunin ng suntukan ni Sen. Dick.

@Lito, I’ve heard from the local radio station that Sen. Noy will be coming here in Negros Oriental to grace the local town fiesta of Jimalalud, Negros Oriental, on January 15,2010. It is the only town in this province that stood a Ninoy Aquino Statue.
Can anybody please confirm this? To whom shall coordinate with?

Insecure? No,I’m not. Even if my candidate lost, I know for myself that I voted the most qualified candidate. I wish I am wrong about ‘Noy and most of the liberal’s political butterflies, ‘cuz most likely he gonna win this election. My most worry is not about Noy, its the people around him. I believed Noy is honest and can’t be corrupt but, his leadership is the one that I am most concern. Like I said, I wish I am wrong. I will always love Ninoy and Cory but I have to follow my brain and vote for the better and wiser choice. Peace.

@Champ , voting for someone you like is your right,No one can do something about it ,in the same manner that we also have the right to refuse someone who we believe is not worth for it . Gordon was known for being Shareman not Chairman of SBMA , this is the reason perhaps that he refused to relinguish his post after his term had expired during Erap’s time , he was acting as if he owned the SBMA . Their name wasn’t that credible enough to even just win for a gubernatorial post in their province .
SBMA project was done with all the modern western structures in it and out of the blood and sweat of volunteers who has been compensated way below the minimum pay .
Before SBMA,Cebu had done the same project but it was done from the grass ,no facilities and no foreign support , however , their labor were compensated sufficiently even up to now , No individuals had claimed credit from it and to be used for their political interest .
Last February this year , Gordon and his 4 allies including Prospero Pichay, was even accused of the same offense by a big Contractor in SBMA from hotel casino project in SBMA. Mr. Palafox, the contractor, said , “I’m doing this for God, for country and for planet earth ”
When Gordon was the Chairman of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority during FVR’s time, his administration has many scandals and corruption issues. From what I heard, he asked for a ’share’ in most of the companies that invested in Subic, take note, not ‘tong’, but a share in the companies.
Gordon a man who can bargain his principle for political favor and interest .He can sell his principles to get back to his political enemies . That’s why , his political affiliation is with the powerful Politicians like Marcos , Danding and now GMA .
It would have been all right if he merely joined the GMA administration bandwagon. Nothing immoral on that. What is immoral is to join the cover-up gang, the notorious group of paid hacks who do the covering up of corruption in government. That is what Gordon is doing NOW in the Senate, in exchange of regaining control of SBMA .He became one of GMA’s protector when she desperately need the support in the impeachment case in exchange for the control of SBMA by appointing Gordon’s men , former undersecretary of tourism Armand Ariza as the SBMA Boss and another one is Armin Santos as a chairman .

Just to remind everyone here that we need to elevate the level of debate on the issues (corruption, poverty, economy) and the proposed platform and agenda of our candidates…we cannot just allow this campaign to go down to who’s pro or against GMA, or again a Marcos vs Cory debate, because the bigger issues confronting us are not about personalities ….

Well said , Dennis. So yeah, Gordon is not the most qualified in terms of integrity. Ilang beses nang nadungisan ang pangalan. And don’t forget people, he challenged Sen. Serge Osmena to a fist fight a few years back while in session. Sen. Dick. aka Napoleon of the Philippines.

Well said, but all lies.
“Their name wasn’t that credible enough to even just win for a gubernatorial post in their province .”
Gordon at the age of 24 was the youngest Con-con delegate elected to represent the province of Zambales. One of the three and he was the highest vote getter.
“blood and sweat of volunteers who has been compensated way below the minimum pay ”
We were volunteers, we believed in Gordon wisdom and leadership. That’s Gordon strength, he can lead people in one goal with determination.
“his administration has many scandals and corruption issues…From what I heard”
You just said it, heard. Its all allegations. You are not a strong leader if you will not encounter things like these. You can’t please everybody.
“can bargain his principle for political favor and interest ”
Yeahh, his interest 40+ years length of service as a volunteer in Red cross. When Ondoy struck or any calamities occurs he was always the first one to give help. U can ask mayor Mon Iligan when Ondoy hit his city badly.
“That’s why , his political affiliation is with the powerful Politicians like Marcos , Danding and now GMA .”
He worked with all the presidents. He rallied with Cory for the retention of US bases, as the people will lost 40K+ jobs. U know what is now, a whopping 250K+ jobs around it.
He intend to work with Erap and we know, the convicted plunderer refused.
SBMA was his passion, its in his heart. Its natural for anyone to have that commitment to protect it.
“GMA’s protector”
He is no boss of no one. Peace and have a nice day.

All or Most of us have one in common, we both love Ninoy and Cory or maybe a fan a Kris? Yes I am, it started the very first day I saw her face when she was still little cute and smart child campaigning for our hero Ninoy.
I was in the main street of Subic then, waiting for the entourage of Cory and Kris to just have a chance to take a good look of them, during the ‘86 election.

Sorry, but Gordon is the least of all the candidates I will vote for. That guy is a potential Marcos and will outdo GMA in greed and passion for stealing.
When he was the SBMA chairman, he was found to have plundered hundreds of millions of pesos. Hindi pulitiko nagsabi niyan. That was COA’s findings.
His relatives took turns in the mayoralty of Olongopo, more than 40 years yan, and what happened ? Olongapo became the SIN Capital of the Philippines and a haven for prostitutes, drug addicts and pedophiles. Look at Olongapo and imagine what will happen to our country if he becomes president.
Pati si Fr. Cullen, a cruzader for righteousness sa Olongapo, was not only subjected to a lot of legal harassments by Gordon but was even bodily attacked by one of Gordon’s men. Walang sinasantong pari si Gordon…
Pati yung Philippine National Red Cross ginagamit niya sa pulitika, appearing in commercials in PNRC uniform. Makakahiya ! Kaya pala inigaw ang Philippine National Red Cross kas Tinga eh para gamitin lang niya sa pulitika.
No champ, nor CHIMP can convince me to vote for Gordon. Promise. Sorry….

I am glad that even the most ardent supporter of Gordon realizes that this candidate can not win. He was already 1% in SWS surveys since 12 months ago. It never improved. And at the rate he is faring right now, he’s likely wil NEVER improve. 1% up to this time, and after several months since he declared his availability for the presidency. Kaya tinitita niya yung number 1, just to get attention. Gordon should feel sorry for himself, as evertbody else does as he plays the role of a “spoiler” in a race that could get him nowhere far from the starting line.

And what happened to COA findings? Why they didn’t charged Gordon. The answer is “Kulang sa sustansiya ang kaso”
Fr cullen? What is his credibilty? was charged with rape of 7 year old girl. A phedophile himself?
Gordon transformed Red cross to just not blood donations.
Its now work as NDCC, DSWD at may pabahay pa. Gordon is the face of red cross, in fairness to Gordon he didn’t used it for his political ambitions. I’m not here to convince you to vote for Gordon, I am here to defend him for all the lies you are spreading about him(for Hustisya).
“Potential Marcos” No way.
He has proven track records. His accomplishments speaks for himself. Peace.

Lies about Gordon? Really Champ? This whole thing started with your Dick spewing nothing but hate and LIES about Sen. Noy. Dick. Ang punto lang, we need a leader who has character, good values and integrity. I do not see that in Sen. Gordon sa mga pinasasabi niya lately. I also do not trust that he is one person that will not put one over us. Hindi mo ba napansin, last year lang siyang nagsimulang humirit against GMA, malamya pa. All these years, naging tuta din ni GMA. Ni hindi binatikos ang baluktot na pamamalakad ni Gloria.
Last year lang siya nagsimulang magsalita. Ayun pala nagpapa-pogi lang dahil tatakbong presidente.
We do not spread lies about other candidates here Champ. We only defend Sen. Noy from the numerous attacks thrown against him and his family. I would expect that from an Erap Estrada. But from Gordon? The transformer? More like old trapo politics. Sa Gobots na lang ako!

@Champ, I think it’s not a lie that no Gordons has attempted for Gubernatorial post , Kate (his wife) tried in the congressional seat but was lost to Magsaysay .
It’s not a lie either that the people running the SBMA today are gordon’s men .
It’s not a lie also that Gordon backs GMA in the height of the possible impeachment case .
It’s not a lie that he was accused by Engr. Palafox, together with 4 allies , in the construction of Hotel Casino in SBMA . You cannot deny it because it’s in the news .
You have all the reasons to support Gordons, because you are from Olongapo, and as I know , that City ,became their piefdom for more than 30 years now , they were your leaders, from his father,to his wife,to his brothers,to his sisters and relatives and I believe I can do nothing about it but to respect .
You as Volunteer,I also will respect your choice but what I know in Cebu MEPZA , they were getting much better pay than you did when they also started the same project and they refuse Labor exploitation in the guise of Volunteerism .
Gordon is not the only one who help Ondoy victims, even the international community were doing their part ,for me it’s not the thing to be proud of ,helping people is not for our political favor but rather an everyone’s obligation but You just said that he didn’t do it for his political interest but likewise he was running for president , which I think is very conflicting . If he didn’t run today , maybe you can convince me that what he did in the Red Cross recently is out of genuine service to the people .

Yes, Olongapo was their own little kingdom for many many years. Kaya nung papalitan na siya ni Payumo, nagwawala at nag-rally doon sa SBMA at hindi daw siya aalis. Hakot pa lahat ng supporters.
Question lang: Is that a trait of a great leader?
Masyado kasing magaling, feeling niya siya at siya lang ang pwedeng magpa-takbo ng isang organisasyon. Konting humility lang po Sen. Dick.

@Champ,I think if gordon is not running I really believe you will vote for Noynoy . One thing we also need to realize that each one of us had preferences in life and we always believe that it is the best . but sometimes , we also need to consider what is really the best .
The election of today is now among the three top contenders , Noynoy ,Villar and Erap . Others with single digit rating has no chance at all based in political history . Erap’s rating of today has indication that he can possibly overtake Villar . With that ,Erap would have a bigger chance of winning back again and I don’t think you will like that scenario . So , the only way to stop Erap from winning is to vote for a candidate with highest probability of winning and that of course , Noynoy … because voting for any candidate is just waste and eventually could give Erap more chances to win .

We must all remember that our country owes billions of dollars to the world bank. It is very sad to think na hawak na ng world bank ang Pilipinas. But that’s the reality. If we elect another corrupt leader, our debt to the world bank will never be repayed instead it will just increase more and more. When Noy will be elected, our country will remain in debt, but at least may pagbabago, because Noy is “NEVER A CORRUPT” person. Kahit man lang ito ay maintindihan ng mga detractors natin. So Champ, I know you like Gordon as Dennis mentioned, but at least if you vote for the right man which is Noy, you yourself can make a lot of difference for our country. For sure, if Noy is elected, you can be proud of yourself na you’re one of those who voted for him to be our leader whom we all know will never steal the people’s money.
