Did Villar, Erap, Teodoro and Gordon fight the Marcos dictatorship?
By William M. Esposo (The Philippine Star)
The Marcos era was a defining moment in our history which separated heroes from opportunists. It is one of the best standards for determining who we can trust to really extricate us from this deep desperate pit we’re in and guide us into the Filipino Promised Land.
Manny Villar belonged to the Aguilar political dynasty in Las Pinas. He married into it and represented Las Pinas as Congressman. They were with Marcos then just as many of the Marcos people are with Villar now.
Joseph “Erap” Estrada was also with Marcos. That was why he was removed when Officers in Charge replaced Marcos local government executives during the revolutionary period following EDSA 1986.
Gilbert Teodoro’s father served Marcos as head of the SSS (Social Security System) and Teodoro does not deny his Marcos links. In fact, just recently, he was quoted proposing a hero’s burial for Marcos.
Richard Gordon, a man who claims to appreciate the importance of knowing history and its impact on national development, also served as a local government official under Marcos. Gordon and Teodoro support the American line.
"I am determined to continue the fight started by my father and my mother to see
that democracy takes root and is strengthened in our country. This cannot happen
in a government that serves the interest of the powerful few. We must strengthen
the institutions of government so that they truly serve the interests of our people."

Good question to ask Villar and the other candidates. Where were they when WE were fighting Marcos Dictatorship ? Did they fight the dictatorship or did they collaborate with Martial Law ?

Si Villar, he impliedly admitted it through his actions —-Bongbong is in his senatorial slate at dalawa pang Marcos, Imelda and Imee are running in lower positions under Villar’s party.

It is already 2010, and everyone in ASEAN has leapfrogged us, even Vietnam whose middle class grew to about 28% (while PH’s dropped to 16%), now we are tier’d with Cambdodia and Laos. Our educational system is comparable to Zimbabwe and Nigeria. Our global competitiveness ranking is 87th (out of 133 countries), worse off than Botswana (66th), Namimbia (74th), Sri Lanka (79th), Algeria (83rd), and here we are still stucked with CORY vs MARCOS ???? Still stucked with HONEST vs DISHONEST ???

To Jet, that is why we need Noynoy to eradicate the roots of all Problems. CORRUPTION!!! Kung walang corrupt walang mahirap!!!

@Jet, precisely! bulls-eye! you know what’s the root cause? yep, corruption. we keep on electing corrupt after corrupt government officials. maybe this time let’s try an honest and incorruptible one naman. gordon? no, he’s part of the system since waaaaay back. kumbaga, this time let’s have a clean slate naman through noynoy.

@Awie, Leo, why is there Corruption? Because of Patronage Politics, because of Mendicancy and Doleouts, and this is all systemic. Did Tita Cory (probably a thousand fold more honest and incorruptible than his son) eradicate this during her term? NO, because she didn’t address the real root causes which is the Filipino core attitudes towards hardwork, discipline, gaining skills and aiming for excellence. This needed transformational change is the core of the GORDON-BAYANI campaign !!!

So, ibig sabihin may cause pa yung “root cause” na ‘to.
Kung iisipin natin, may corruption sa halos lahat ng level (from Sangguniang Kabataan up to the President) kasi:

Wika nga ni Dick Gordon, “What this country needs is NOT JUST a change of men, but a change in men.”.
We must be RESPONSIBLE for ourselves, for our fellow Filipinos, and for our country. We must change our attitudes, and transform ourselves to become horizon-chasers with duty, dignity, and determination;
- An excerpt from Dick Gordon’s Manifesto for Change

@Jet, @Sherwin, papaano mo mapagbabago ang gutom at ang mangmang?

@Engr.
Very irresponsible journalism..

Engr,
First, tama ka wlang ipinanganak ng tamad, pero habang lumalaki sila, nagiging tamad… bakit? umaasa sa ibibigay ng pamahalaan… marami na akong na-meet na may kapansanan, but ginagawa nila khit maging barker sa parking lot, pero have you noticed na mas marami na mas malaki at malakas, pero nakaupo at naghihintay ng grasya at maiinom? Naghihintay ng sundo para sa kampanya (which is very seasonal)?
They were just riding and using the cause and death of Ninoy and popularity of Cory. I also did followed Ninoy’s cause but please bear in mind, Ninoy and Nonoy are two different persons. Let’s not get too far, are you and any of your brother or sister have the same principle in life? There’s no two persons that are born exactly the same even twins.

@Irwin M de Sagun, agree ako dun sa first paragraph na sinabi mo, kaya nga we need more than ever an honest and upright candidate.
you said, “Secondly, Bakit ba napatakbo sa election si Noy? dahil sa maga miron na gusto rin syang gamitin. They were just riding and using the cause and death of Ninoy and popularity of Cory. I also did followed Ninoy’s cause but please bear in mind, Ninoy and Nonoy are two different persons. Let’s not get too far, are you and any of your brother or sister have the same principle in life? There’s no two persons that are born exactly the same even twins.”

People were looking for a leader na hindi magnanakaw at ang kabaligtaran sa leader natin ngayon. This is what made Noynoy different from other presidentiables . The people are trying to get rid of leaders who has an insatiable lust for Power …. which is very evident sa mga kandidato ngayon especially the likes of Villar and Gordon .
Wala ring nagdisagree sa iyo about different person, but,you are only trying to establish something na kung posible lang ,you want to make it appear na si Ninoy ay hindi Tatay ni Noynoy . Dahil malaki ka na you don’t need to be explained kung ano ang pwedeng mamana ng anak sa heroism at ang pagmamahal sa bayan nila ni Ninoy at ni Cory and I think you have wisdom enough to determine na ang dakilang gawain ba ito ng kanyang magulang is worth rewarding ba or criticism .
The most important trait that Noynoy has inherited from his parents ay ang pagiging Honest at ang pagmamahal sa bayan … , if you have time try to scan Noynoy words many years back and you will find out that the desire to pay back the people and to help the nation were always there. The Delicadeza was always being observed by the children of Ninoy and Cory . Kung sa iba pa siguro na may ganitong opportunity , kahit aso nila siguro pinatakbo na sa politika …dito mo makikita na hindi ganid ang mga anak ni Ninoy sa kapangyarihan and that is the main reason why Noynoy took it so hard to heed to the people’s call for change .

@arvin , hindi pagbibintang iyun 800M ni Gordon dahil it was the result of the investigation conducted by the Commission on Audit. Walang taga outsiders or politiko na involve sa kaso except for the government agency at hindi mo rin pwedeng sabihin na politika lang dahil kaalyado ni Gordon ang presidente ng Pilipinas noon.
I doubt with your statement that the case was already resolved dahil kaka-follow up lang ni Cong. Magsaysay sa kaso in which she was told that it was still pending sa Supreme court .
Gordon became a Mayor with the help of Danding Cojuangco , a Marcos Loyalist. Gordon can never be against Marcos dahil kailanman man ay he was never in the opposition during Marcos Era … he may have played something in 1971 according to you but he immediately sworn allegiance to Marcos sensing danger in going against Marcos … and became loyal to the dictator even after the end of his time…
Gordon is not a good listener. Allow him to speak and it takes forever to end. Bla, Bla and Bla, Bla…non-stop. many says ,His gender is not only questionable, his political color too. Is he with the opposition or with the administration? He’s also too emotional which is bad for a leader. When he was ousted as SBMA Chairman, he cried like a baby
