Cory-Ampatuan link: Poor research or polluted sources?

Dear Sir,
After reading Belinda Olivares-Cunanan’s 10 December 2009 “Political Tidbits” column in the PDI, I was very alarmed to see that Mrs. Cunanan stated as a “fact” that Former President Corazon C. Aquino appointed Andal Ampatuan Sr. as OIC of Maganoy in 1986.
As an avid reader of the PDI, I am disappointed to see such an irresponsible statement printed, whether or not it is attributable to poor research or polluted sources.
What is perhaps more disturbing is that this malicious historical error has been refuted over and over by credible sources even from within your paper.
Furthermore, Fr. Eliseo “Jun” Mercado, OMI, has publicly corrected the outright lie that President Aquino appointed Andal Ampatuan Sr. as OIC.
The truth is that Ampatuan Sr. was already OIC of Maganoy (now Shariff Aguak) and was appointed by the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos, when President Aquino came to power. In fact, President Aquino *removed* the Ampatuan patriarch and replaced him with a non-political member of the Ampatuan clan, Datu Bodhi Ampatuan, who served as Chief of Police in Maguindanao.
Fr. Mercado, who was then parish priest and NAMFREL Chairman of Maguindanao, personally told Ampatuan Sr. that the latter was being replaced by President Aquino.
Seeing how volatile the situation is now, the said statement is very disparaging of the memory of our beloved Tita Cory. Ethics dictate that such statements should be made with extreme caution, and should be founded on good, solid facts from unimpeachable sources.
In the interest of balanced views and fairness, I hope my letter finds its way into publication if only to correct the blatant falsity perpetuated by Mrs. Cunanan’s statement on the matter.

Belinda Olivares-Cunanan is no journalist at all. shes nothing at all in any commentaries of her unfair and bipartisan kunbaga sa immoral term siya ang kalapati mababa ang lipad. Bayaran na commenterista.

ang layo naman ng connection from cory to ampatuan, that’s roughly 13 years ago. by mere proximity lang, you can’t put the blame on cory.
besides even before cory assumed presidency, marcos was already negotiating with local leaders in mindanao to quell the secession. later on when cory became president, mindanao supported her, hence a relatively peaceful mindanao. but they soon got disillusioned by cory’s slow progress. rebels re-emerged.

si cunanan ay cheerleader yan ni gloria…tagapagtanggol ng mga ‘national artist’ na si cecile guidote alvarez, carlo caparas, et al. basta lang ba may maiconnect kay tita cory na pwede ikasira ni noy, sige lang siya. feeling nya, mas alam nya ang kwento ng maguindanao / socsargen area kaysa kay fr. june mismo….pero di nya maiconnect na si gibo teodorong annointed nila na nagpasalamat kay gloria for having a ‘free hand’ kuno in doing his job as dnd chief ay may pananagutan din dahil dun sa mga nakuhang armas at bala na may tatak ng departamento nya…yan ang bias na di maitago! asan na nga pala ‘to si gibo ngayon cunanan?

@net hindi mo ba napansin si gibo at gma walang imik ngayon?Nag-isip yong dalawa ano ang paraan na matalo nila si Noynoy,lalo na ngayon na sa prison yong vote machine nila na si Ampatuan.

style nila yan, divide the attention of the public tapos magtalaga ng kung sinu-sino na pwedeng humarap sa public..si gibo na pilit nila pinamumukha na ‘able’ leader dahil lamang sa magaling siyang magsalita, asan ngayon? nagtatago baka ang kanyang 2% rating ay maging negative pa….napatunayan na yan nung ondoy and pepeng time, biglang nagkaroon si gibo ng major sa afp na tagalinis ng kalat nya sa public…sasabihin nila mahina si noy pero walang issue na tinataguan, di tulad ni gibo na ‘able, intelligent and eloquent’ leader kuno, para lang palitaw, biglang mawawala at lilitaw…puro lang kasi sila perception, samantalang si money at gibo ay given na ang kakayahan, o kawalan ng backbone, si noy etong pilit nila pinapamukha ni di kayang mamuno…naman, ano pa bang pruweba kailangan nila?

wala na yan si gibo, kahit siya ang piniling standard bearer ng administrayon alam naman ng lahat na hindi sya ang sinusuportahan ni GMA. di nyo ba nahalata na hindi man lang binabatikos ni manny Villar si GMA? malamang may deal na ang dalawang yan, hindi lang nila masabi kasi pag sinuportahan ni GMA si Villar siguradong bababa ang standing ni Villar.

ako rin, i believe, may puhunan din talaga si gloria dyan kay money villar. kasi naman, parehong negosyante yang dalawang yan, basta ba anyone but noynoy…obvious naman eh, kung lilipat ang taga palaka sa nacionalista, no care sila, kasi parang hiniram lang, pero pag liberal, naman, nagpakabayani pa si teodoro pag sama kay toto mangudadatu sa maguindanao para mag-file ng coc….sabagay, sabi nga ni manuel buencamino, nunal lang ang kaibahan ni money kay glorie!
