MANILA, Philippines – More than 10,000 people registered this afternoon at the 2.5K PiNOY fun run to support Liberal Party presidential candidate Sen. Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III and his runningmate Sen. Mar Roxas.
Egay Zaragoza of the Sparks For Change said aside from the fun run, the volunteers also conducted a medical mission at the parking lot of Telus building at the Araneta Center in Cubao, Quezon City.
“This is not a show of force but mainly show of support for the Noy-Mar tandem,” he told philstar.com.
He said the group was formed shortly after Aquino announced that he would be running in the presidential derby in September last year.
Aquino is the son of the late democracy icon and former President Corazon Aquino and ex-senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr.

With just days away from the May 2010 automated election, Sen. Allan Peter Cayetano of the Nacionalista Party and Rep. Risa Hontiveros of the Liberal party go face-to-face to address the claims of black propaganda in the special Harapan edition of “Failon Ngayon” this Saturday (May 1), 5:30 PM.

The two parties are neck-and-neck in the surveys and making the opposing party look bad may just be the key to win the elections. “Failon Ngayon” conducted a mock election using the 2.5 feet sample ballots from COMELEC and the people’s shocking reactions were captured.

On the lighter side, impersonators of Presidential candidates Manny Villar and Noynoy Aquino will also clash in the show and argue about the black propaganda they hurled against each other.

Find out if there is any truth in the dirt the two parties are flinging at each other this Saturday (May 1) in “Failon Ngayon” with Ted Failon, 5:30 PM on ABS-CBN.

• In the middle of this current crisis, the economy needs new impetus. We will immediately introduce an emergency programme of investment in infrastructure, in public works and in social housing and other social services in order to get companies and people back to work, thus reducing unemployment over the next two years.

• The control of inflation and the institutionalization of a stable climate for industry to plan and prosper in order to lead to long-term prosperity is a major objective. To accomplish this, we shall ensure that the Banko Sentral ng Pillipinas (BSP) remain steadfast and independent with regards its primary responsibility of maintaining a stable policy consistent with the requirements for price stability.

• Environmental priorities will be built into all economic decision-making, ensuring that economic success goes hand in hand with environmental responsibility. We will introduce new environmental incentives.

• The Philippines’ political institutions need major reforms; stable and representative government, further decentralization of power to local governments, and greater respect for the Bill of Rights. As an essential measure to secure and entrench lasting reform we will introduce fair voting by proportional representation for all elective offices and fully implement the modernization of our elections.

• The skills and capabilities of the Filipino people must be adequate to meet challenges of the new century. We will increase investment in education and work training. The main objective will be to provide our citizens with dignified employment.

• The poor and disadvantaged deserve greater security in these difficult times. We will introduce welfare programs to compliment and protect private pension, provide comprehensive health care to the needy and introduce self-help programs for the most needy.

MANILA, Philippines – Liberal Party standard-bearer Sen. Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III is on the cover of Time Magazine’s April 25 issue that hit the newsstands last night.

The magazine’s cover will be carried in a limited Asian edition, with more Aquino photos inside.

The article on him tackles his journey to the presidency months after his mother former President Corazon Aquino died of colon cancer, his family life, his bachelorhood, and struggle to win the May 10 elections.

Time had also thrice featured on its cover Mrs. Aquino. The first was in 1986 when she was named Woman of the Year, the second in 2006 when she was named among 60 Asian Heroes, and the last after she died in August 2009 when she was declared “The Saint of Democracy.”
