“Incompetent” Noynoy

I was watching The Best of 2009 of Ricky Carandang’s Big Picture which features the interviews with some leading Presidential contenders. One particular question asked to Noynoy Aquino is what will he do in his first 100 days of his Presidency. Aquino answered that he will see to it if we have enough revenues. According to him, his financial and economic experts have brief him of the amount of revenues projected if the tax collection is fully implemented. He was also briefed about the extent of cases of smuggling in the country with regards to the amount lost and the people behind it.

Now I think that as a new leader, that priority of ensuring our fiscal standing is logical. Like in the family, the father of the family shall ensure that the household has enough resources to meet its daily needs. Now is this the Noynoy Aquino that they called incompetent?

Compare it to a leading Presidential contender, who said that to ensure that there will be transparency on his Presidency, every government bidding will be televised. The same presidential candidate also said that to ensure there will be improvement in the quality of public school system, he will initiate a competition among the schools where the best performing school will be rewarded. Schools which will under perform will have its school head demoted or assigned to not so desirable assignments.
